Awareness & Facts

Creating public awareness about violence against women is an ongoing effort with our organization.  We try to engage the community and get into the schools to provide information, support and most of all dispel the myths around violence and abuse .  For more information or to book a school or workplace presenter please contact us.

According to Stats Canada, Every 6 Days in Canada, a women is killed by her intimate partner.

  • 67% of Canadians know a women who has been physically or sexually abused
  • On any given day in Canada, more than 3,300 women (along with their 3,000 children) are forced to sleep in an emergency shelter to escape domestic violence. Every night, about 200 women are turned away because the shelters are full.  
There are 7 different types of abuse
  • Emotional
  • Sexual
  • Physical
  • Financial
  • Environmental
  • Psychological/Mental
  • Religious                                   

DID YOU KNOW...

Male children who witness or are involved in violence and abuse are statistically more likely to grow up to be an abuser.  In the same respect, female children are more likely to be victims of abuse. Violence and abuse in the home ALWAYS affects the children. Contact us to support you in helping your children.
